What progress was achieved in the first six months of Whakaora Te Waihora?

The first six months from December 2011 to June 2012 was spent preparing the groundwork for the programme of work for the first full year. Tasks included preparation of specific site plans for the focus areas, a weed control strategy with partners, scoping papers prepared for science investigations, and engagement plans for each focus area. An important task was also to compile the native plant list and order plants to be used for Spring 2012 planting. Local seed was sourced for this. Amanda Ward was appointed project manager in June 2012. Amanda has experience in a wide variety of restoration and lake management projects.
