What we’re doing
A comprehensive programme of work, Whakaora Te Waihora, is underway to fully recognise the potential of Te Waihora and the wider catchment.
In 2012, Whakaora Te Waihora became the first joint land management plan between iwi and the Crown in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Today, our Co-Governance arrangement represents the country’s most significant voluntary iwi/Crown agency partnership—a bold cultural and ecological programme to return Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere to its former glory.
Invest in our mahi to restore Te Waihora
We're looking for new partners to join us in revitalizing Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere, a precious taonga.
We aim to collaborate with foundations, corporations, and trusts to help restore Te Waihora lagoon for the benefit of future generations.
